Iron Acton Parish Hall re-opening on September 1st 2020

The management committee has taken the decision to reopen the Parish Hall following the Governments guidelines on the opening of village halls and community buildings.  There will be restrictions on the number of people allowed in the Hall and strict social distancing and sanitation rules will be applied.

We are accepting enquiries for bookings later in the year and next year.  We have availability on weekday mornings for Yoga, Pilates or similar classes.  Children’s parties are also now bookable but with restricted numbers.  For further information please contact the bookings secretary at or by telephoning Meryl Cook on 01454 228405.

Iron Acton Horticultural Show

Saturday 12th September 2020 - cancelled

Iron Acton Parish Hall

It was with deep regret we had to make the decision to cancel this year’s Horticultural Show because of Covid 19.  Space to share the fruits of our labours would have been severely limited in the Parish Hall, due to the restrictions that have been put in place to ensure peoples safety.  Keeping to the rules about social distancing, with the kitchen closed and many transactions involving forms, small sums of cash and labels etc would have been so problematical that the Committee decided that it was not possible to hold the Show safely.  Without the auction we would inevitably have incurred a loss to the Parish Hall funds.

Most of us this year have counted ourselves so fortunate in having gardens and allotments where we have been able to spend time, gardening, relaxing and just watching and listening to the wildlife that shares them.  Flowers have been arranged; herbs and vegetables have enlivened our recipes as we've cooked.

With all this extra time spent in them many of our gardens have never been lovelier nor more productive and we have recorded them in photos or maybe drawings and words.  Please save all these for next year’s show.   We hope to mount a display to remember our lovely 2020 gardens and allotments.  We will give more details in subsequent Local Poyntz editions.

We are planning for Horticultural Show to be back September 11th 2021, save the date!

Iron Acton Parish Hall was built in 1948 on land donated to the village by the Rudman family.

At the turn of the Millennium Project 2000 was established which resulted in a complete refurbishment of the hall by the summer of 2005. In 2011 further development took place to build a new professional kitchen which has enabled the Hall to host charity breakfasts as well as  full wedding catering. An additional lobby room and waiting area for those using the hall was completed during 2016 and is available for hire.

Iron Acton Parish Hall is a registered charity run by volunteers, funded by grants, donations, fundraising and hire receipts.
